‘Mindful healing with the Rosicrucians’

Events coming later this month at the Rosicrucian Cultural Center are open to all who work toward achieving peace of mind. The center is located at 2303 Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard in New York City.

(Masonic brethren sometimes ask me what Rosicrucianism is. I’m not up to the task of answering the question conclusively, but I can say two things: 1) Rosicrucianism chiefly is about healing—mending others, but first helping oneself so as to be able to help others. 2) Rosicrucianism differs from Freemasonry in that its organized doings concern only The Work. That is, there are no ritual competitions, hot dog eating contests, kiddie groups, and the endless other frivolities that trivialize Masonic lodges to the verge of irrelevance. You know what I’m talking about.)

From the publicity:

Rewriting Your Personal Story
May 15 through May 19
6:30 to 7:30 nightly

Are there things in your life that you blame others for causing? Do you have memories from your past that haunt or embarrass you each time you think about them? Have you ever wanted to rewrite your “life script” and feel at peace with difficult situations from your past?

Forgiving oneself and making peace with the past is necessary for a good life today, and a promising tomorrow. You deserve harmony and joy each and every day. Join our session and be prepared to lose anger and judgment, and to begin developing a healthy love and respect for yourself and others.

Facilitating the discussions will be longtime Rosicrucian Patricia Downes, OD/HRD Specialist, Relationship and Organizational Systems Coach, and Certified Life Coach.

Discuss Spiritual Laws
with Dr. Lonnie Edwards
Saturday, May 20
1 to 5 p.m.

It is important for us as students of spirituality and mysticism to become aware and acquainted with the tremendous resources that are available to us to make our lives more harmonious. Once we learn to tap these inner resources, living will become an invigorating affair, advancing and expanding the consciousness.

We need to keep foremost in our consciousness certain principles, conditions and laws to gain access to spiritual tools and to arrive at permanent solutions to life’s challenges. Through lectures, participation in meditation, and visualization exercises, we will be given the opportunity to experience the value of discussing these principles in a group setting.

Facilitating the discussions will be Dr. Lonnie Edwards, Vice President of the EGL Board of Directors, and author of Spiritual Laws that Govern Humanity and the Universe.

Living in a State
of Awareness and Mindfulness
Friday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Have you been standing on the sidelines, looking in from the outside at your life, not liking what you see and feel? Do you desire more joy and aliveness in some areas of your life?

In this session, we’ll explore options for improving the quality of our lives so that we are better able to move forward in life with bravery and courage. We will conduct exercises that further this state of being and will practice techniques that support us in achieving the objectives.

Facilitating the discussion will be longtime Rosicrucian Patricia Downes, OD/HRD Specialist, Relationship and Organizational Systems Coach, and Certified Life Coach.

‘Meaning, laws, and attunement in life’

Unbelievably, April is practically here, and I haven’t yet written about Masonic Week, Royal Arch weekend in Albany, and a number of other memorable events from winter. I’ll get there, but in the meantime, here is news of coming attractions surely of interest to Magpie readers in or around New York City.

The Gurdjieff Foundation of New York will offer another introductory discussion on Friday, April 10. Titled “The Search for Meaning in the Midst of Life,” this program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at 104 Berry Street in Williamsburg. Reservations are recommended. See the flier for info:

“Only by beginning to remember himself does a man really awaken. And then all surrounding life acquires for him a different aspect and a different meaning.”

G. I. Gurdjieff

On April 18 and 19, the Rosicrucian Order will host another Mystical Weekend at the Rosicrucian Cultural Center at 2303 Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard in Manhattan.

Saturday, from 1 to 5 p.m.: “Discuss Spiritual Laws” with Dr. Lonnie Edwards, author of Spiritual Laws that Govern Humanity and the Universe. Open to all.

Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m.: Various sessions and discussion for brothers and sisters of the Order.

On the following Saturday, April 25, Builders of the Adytum will host its annual Vibratory Attunement Ritual. This is an exercise involving devotions and sensory perception of sound and color—a very interesting experience that I recommend. This is open to the public, and will take place at 4 p.m. at Masonic Hall (71 West 23rd Street, 12th floor Chapter Room, in Manhattan). The event follows BOTAs regular fourth Saturday Elements in Tarot and Hebrew session which begins at 10 a.m.

And you Freemasons, don’t forget W. Anthony Mongelli will appear Wednesday at Livingston Lodge No. 11 in New Jersey.

‘Rose Croix Journal for 2014’

Dr. Lonnie Edwards will return to the Rosicrucian Cultural Center (2303 Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard in Manhattan) on Saturday for another Spiritual Laws discussion at 1 p.m.

Edwards is the author of Spiritual Laws that Govern Humanity and the Universe.

In other news, the new issue of Rose Croix Journal is available. Issue No. 10 features “liberal arts papers as well as scientific papers on topics of interest to Rosicrucians, including a paper summarizing the findings of a recent Sixth Degree Research Team project, the Journal continues the spirit of free philosophic inquiry that characterized the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, prominent figures in which included Rosicrucians.”

The cover art of the 2014 issue of Rose Croix Journal shows a
colorful version of 'The Temple of the Rosy Cross,' an image
dating to 1618 that bursts with symbolism and messages.

Papers include:

  • “Searching for the Cosmic Quintessence: How Alchemists Meditated in the Middle Ages and Renaissance” by Dennis Hauck, Ph.D.

  • “Preliminary Experiments on Contact Healing, Breathing Exercises, Sounds, and Their Responses” by the Sixth Degree Research Team, namely Hugh McCague, Ph.D. and Bryan Young, MD, among others.

  • “Cardiovascular Disease in the Western World—an Overlook Risk Factor” by Raymond A. Schep, D.Sc.

“Now entering its twelfth year, the Journal has established itself as a source of philosophic and esoteric literature, having recently been nominated for inclusion in a database used by research libraries across the globe,” according to the Rosicrucian Order. “Another point of interest: our team of 44 editors and staff is among the largest volunteer teams in the recent history of the Order.”

‘Every problem has a spiritual resolution’

The Rosicrucian Order will present Dr. Lonnie C. Edwards, author of Spiritual Laws that Govern Humanity and the Universe, this week at the Rosicrucian Cultural Center in New York City. The program is described below, but here is a video shared on Facebook yesterday by Mark at the Institute for Hermetic Studies. One of those weird “coincidences.”

Lonnie C. Edwards, MD
Rosicrucian Cultural Center
2303 Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.
New York City
December 9 through 13
3 to 7:30 p.m.

It is important for students of mysticism to become acquainted with the tremendous resources that are available to make our lives more harmonious. These resources are necessary for us to cope with the many and varied experiences that come to us. Once we learn to tap these inner resources, living will be more of an invigorating affair. We need to keep foremost in our consciousness certain principles, conditions, and laws in order to gain access to spiritual and permanent solutions. We have the ultimate choice to align with and attract the higher Energies or to align with and attract the lower short-lived manifestations. The higher choices, those of the spiritual self, reveal to us that all problems and challenges are illusions and are nothing more than mistakes in our thinking, and like every human error they dissolve when we but seek the higher frequencies–the truth. Evolution demands us to work through these. They are “normal” happenings, whose purpose is to urge us to endure and move toward transformation and on to regeneration and reintegration. Through lectures, meditation, and visualization exercises, we will be given an opportunity to uncover the composite self, and learn how to approach the future.

Participants also will have the opportunity to experience discussions and exercises designed to give a stronger recognition to the inner intelligence and how to utilize it in everyday experiences. These Rosicrucian methods show how every problem has a spiritual resolution.

Considerable attention will be given to how to view the world of appearances, and how you create your world of realities. Cosmic will and its role and influence will be explained.
