‘The Imperfect Storm at Cooperstown’

     

The lodge in Cooperstown will host a historian’s talk on the “Morgan Affair” Tuesday.

Yesterday was the 200th anniversary of the arrest of William Morgan at Batavia; today is the bicentenary of Morgan’s seeming disappearance. That mystery—an alleged, but unproven murder—precipitated a scandal that shamed our fraternity almost to oblivion, and echoes of suspicion are heard even today. From the publicity:

Join us on this somber occasion as we are joined by Steven L. Harrison from Missouri as he discusses the events that unfolded in Western New York during September of 1826 and beyond.

Members are encouraged to read Bro. Harrison’s book The Imperfect Storm before this meeting if possible. Two copies that may be borrowed are in the lodge library.

This event is open to all Freemasons in good standing in the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York and jurisdictions in amity. This event is not open to the public.

Join the members of Otsego Lodge 138 of Free and Accepted Masons in a tasting of quality craft beer (some even brewed by our members!) for a nominal, and to be determined, cost. Gross proceeds will go to Masonic charities in New York State.

Tours of the building will also be given. Celebrate our 100th year in our current building!

2020 is the 225th year of Otsego Lodge serving Cooperstown. Come learn about our history in the village, as well as information on Freemasonry as a whole.

Must be 21+ to be served.
     

‘Masonic Con at Cooperstown’

     

There’s another Masonic Con coming. This one will take place next year at Cooperstown, New York.

Not much information available yet, but mark your calendar for October 9 through 11, 2020. Events will be held at the local Masonic lodge and a few doors down at the Baseball Hall of Fame.
