‘An American football in London’
Within the Metropolitan Grand Lodge, there is a movement to launch The Lombardi Lodge for “Freemasons who share a passion for American football.”
The name Lombardi, obvious to Americans, refers to Vince Lombardi, the Brooklyn-born coach of the Green Bay Packers, 1959-67, and namesake of the National Football League’s solid sterling silver Tiffany-made championship trophy. For generations, that name has evoked virtuous achievement through discipline, preparation, and teamwork. I think I read somewhere that during his championship career he moonlighted as governor of the Bank of England.
And maybe that’s why there are Britons who enjoy watching the NFL. Interested brethren should contact the Met Grand Lodge here.
Magpie coverage of the Masonic Library and Museum Association’s weekend of stalking the streets of New York City is forthcoming, possibly in several posts due to all the photos. Your patience is appreciated.

‘A little British humour’
A whimsical April Fools’ Day joke from the admin of the UGLE’s Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London’s social media:
Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Metropolitan Grand Chapter are pleased to announce the “One Journey” Apron for use by Master Masons who are also Exaltees. It can be worn in both Craft Lodges and Royal Arch Chapters and clearly portrays the indissoluble link between the two. The Apron will be available from 12 noon today, so it can be worn at Metropolitan Grand Chapter on 17th April 2024.
